OLIVIER MOSSET

Olivier Mosset, who has just been selected for the 2008 Whitney Biennial, has been part of the Avant Garde since he began his artistic career in the 1960’s. He is known for his monochromatic and neo-geo style paintings, which demystify traditional painting. His works have been critical of the institutional art scene of his time, much like the works of Duchamp and the Dadaist movement in the early 20th century. Mosset was born in Switzerland, and has lived and worked in the United States since the 1970’s. He divides his time between studios in New York and Tucson, Arizona. His career includes well over a hundred and fifty solo shows at major museums and galleries worldwide.
