Artist's Statement
The idea of using a red thread in this series is based on the Chinese belief that an invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place or circumstances; the thread may stretch or tangle, but never break. The physical form of the red thread in the picture is a reflection of the psychological and emotional response to each space during my short presence at the different locations that I have been fortunate to travel to. It is ultimately a representation of a deeper spiritual connection to a place beyond the surface. Most importantly the red thread continues to extend beyond each image, creating an invisible connection linking the viewers and me through our experience and discovery with the work.
