Artist Statement
My work revolves around the object. Utilizing the existent, I choose objects according to their use, form, and context. These objects, removed from their previous intention, are then transmuted in material and context through the casting process, a manifestation of physical deconstruction. Found objects are molded, sometimes altered, and then reproduced or represented into a new contextually suitable material. Also important is the object’s relationship to itself and space, which brings about installation based arrangements. Through this language of things, I have explored such themes as play, power, control, financial structures, obsolescence, science, religion, fetish, and language itself.
